Just when she’s on the verge of calling it quits in her quest to find love and a sustainable relationship with a Dominant man, her friend Kisa requests her company for a girl’s night out at Spanxxx, a local fetish club. Both Kisa and Micah are seasoned submissive players in the BDSM lifestyle. Micah has been involved in the scene since her early twenties, but she has yet to meet a Dominant she meshes with and takes seriously. Now, at age thirty, she continues to search for a connection that repeatedly eludes her. Under duress, she crosses paths with Dominant Rick Thomas. Unusual and dire circumstances bring the pair together, and he’s exactly what Micah has been searching for.

Review: My Prince by Anna Martin

November 23, 2015 by Katie, Back Porch Reader

The Blurb:

cover-AnnaMartin-MyPrinceAfter growing up in a rough part of town, George Maguire worked his way out of Manchester and to a career as a design engineer. Alexander van Amsberg, an architecture student at the University of Edinburgh, wasn’t the sort of guy he normally had explosive, hotel-room one-night-stands with. Alex was charming, classy, and, as George later learns, Prince of the Netherlands.

Feature Friday Review: Misfits by Garrett Leigh

November 20, 2015 by Katie, Back Porch Reader

Welcome readers and visitors. Happy Friday!

I don’t know about y’all, but it feels like it’s taken forever to get here. Probably because I’m taking next week off and there’s SO much to do in order to do that with a clear conscience.

Being that next week is Thanksgiving here in the States, and I’m the cook by no other reason that it’s been the tradition since I was a teenager, I’ll be busy prepping and whipping up all sorts of delights for my family and guests to enjoy. I don’t know what the next week will entail regarding my reading and reviewing schedule…I’ll be playing it by ear and posting when I have something to share.

But this week, I’m bringing you a book I really enjoyed. I hope you do too.

The Blurb:

cover-misfits-garrettleighRestaurant owner Tom Fearnes has loved his partner Cass for as long as he can remember, but their work often keeps them apart. When he meets a striking young man named Jake on the vibrant streets of Camden Town, their heady first encounter takes an unexpected turn.

Jake Thompson can hardly believe his luck when he wakes up in Tom’s bed. Tom is gorgeous, kind, and . . . taken. Tom’s explanation of his open relationship leaves Jake cold, but Tom is too tempting, and when hard times force Jake to accept Tom’s helping hand, he finds himself between two men who’ve lost their way.

Cass Pearson is a troubled soul. He loves Tom with all he has, but some days it feels like he hasn’t much to give. Jake seems like the perfect solution. Cass risks everything to push Jake and Tom together, but Jake resists, wary, until the darkness of Cass’s past comes to call. Then Jake finds himself the last man standing, and it’s time to dig deep and shine a light for the men he’s grown to love.

The Review:

4Star

This was menage done right! A beautiful portrayal of three being stronger than two, characters with character, a plot with depth, and sex not just for the sake of sex. I loved the writing style, the British humor and slang, the sexy tatted chef, and respectful care of portraying TS. Well done!

This review also posted on GoodReads and Amazon.

Additional: A short review! Kind of unlike me, isn’t it? Honestly, there’s not a whole lot more to say about this book. Everything about it was thoroughly enjoyable. I’ll add that I absolutely loved the cover and that’s probably what drew me to the book in the first place. It’s the dragonfly. I’ve got a thing for them.

Also, I LOVE menage stories like this. Polyamory is a bit of an intriguing novelty to me. I believe it can work and I believe it can be strong. In my romance books, of course I want it to be sexy as hell, but for my reading tastes I also want gorgeously written realism. I want to believe that all parties, whether it’s two or three or five, are all stronger and better together. This book did that in a magnificent way.

Thank you for visiting. And…if I’m out of touch next week it’s because I’m slicing, dicing, whipping, baking, and roasting my ass off and then EATING ALL THE THINGS with copious amounts of wine.

Happy Thanksgiving fellow Americans.

Love, Peace, Good Health and Great Books be with everyone around the world.
